Aubrina's latest art project

One thing we love about Aubrina and Robby's school is that they get to do a ton of art. Another thing we love is that the teachers are always challenging the kids to try new things and learn in new ways. This week Aubrina is working on a special art project. They are hoping to have the children's art displayed in a building on the Google campus (the building next to the building that I work in), so I'm really hoping that they get chosen!

Here is what they're doing: The children are interested in photography, so the teachers are teaching them how to take pictures. When the individual children take a picture of something that they really like, the teachers print out a large version of the picture for the children to use as inspiration for a work of art. First the child is challenged to draw what they see in the picture. Next, the child is challenged to add color to their drawing, again using the picture as inspiration.

The art that is coming out of this project is amazing! These are two year olds, and I have to say that I was really impressed by the true works of art that the children created. Here is a picture of Aubrina's work of art - you can see her picture for inspiration, as well as her finished product. There's also a picture of the artist herself, just since she so darn cute. Can you tell that I'm a proud Mama?? :)

Someone else is busy at school too!

Robby has been busy at school too! These are pictures with his new 'girlfriend' at school.

Actually he's just very good natured and eager to give hugs and kisses to all his friends, teachers, relatives... If someone is crying or visibly upset, Robby is the first person to run over and give a hug. He's such a sweetheart. Of course I hope he stays this positive and sweet forever, but that doesn't stop me from savoring every sweet, mushy moment. :)

Just another busy day at school

Aubrina's teachers send out a daily journal highlighting what the kids do each day. Some days they also send the individual families pictures of their own children. Yesterday we got some special pictures from what Aubrina was up to. Both pieces of art that she made will be proudly displayed on our kitchen wall! Thank you for the thoughtful gifts, Aubrina!
